Market Announcements:
Wow! What a great 2nd season! Thank you to the Key Peninsula community and all our loyal customers for your support this year.
"Eat Local for Thanksgiving" Farmers Market
Double WOW! The "Eat Local for Thanksgiving" Farmers Market on November 21st was terrific! Thanks to everyone who shopped the market and supported our local farmers and food producers.
Mary (Herron Hill Dairy) sold out of her cheese, and the veggies Lori (Cape E. Heritage Farm) and LaLaine and Rachel (Creviston Valley Farm) brought were pretty much wiped out by 1:15pm. At the Manager's table, by the end of the day, we only had four assorted jars of Chanetta's (The Bee Lady) honey left. And, it sounds like both Greg and Maureen (Gentle Giant Meadows Ranch) and Janice (Kaukiki Farm) made great contacts, too, as they're starting to talk about being in the market next year.
The only folks who had product left at the end of the day were Rolf Torgerson (Rolf's Choice Salmon), who has pick-up days periodically through the winter in Key Center and Joe and BeJae (Jake's Brew Co.) who you'll find at Peninsula High School's "Winterfest" Thanksgiving weekend.
Joe (3 Clouds Bakery) was not able to join us at the last minute, due to the popularity of his products being sold through the drive thru window at Ravensara. If you've just gotta have his breads or croutons for Thanksgiving, call the bakery directly, 253-853-3349, to place your order.
Although it's too late to win a free turkey, or other prizes, from Puget Sound Fresh, I highly recommend you take the "Eat Local for Thanksgiving" pledge on-line, to show you support for local farmers and Cascade Harvest Coalition, whose funding has been severely cut during our current economic crisis.
You still have time to submit our 2009 End of Season Survey and help the KPFM Board decide how to plan for next season. Do you want the market to be open for a longer season? Offer cakes and cookies? Bring in vendors from off the Key Peninsula? Fill out the survey on-line, it only takes a few minutes. Thanks!
What's New for 2009? The Key Peninsula Farmers Market is pleased to announce that beginning August 30, 2009 we are able to accept EBT funds at the Farmers Market. Additionally, for the entire 2009 season, many of the KPFM produce vendors accepted WIC & Senior FMNP vouchers. The Farmers Market Manager and Board welcomed the opportunity to increase access to the freshest, healthiest fruits and vegetables to all of our community members. ......................................................................................
